life as it is seen from my heart and soul

a Prodigal in a pigsty

we have a 19 year old adopted son….we got him when he was 7 months old…he is wonderful.  smart, intelligent, compassionate, and athletic.  but in the last four years he got confused and angry and began listening to the lies of the Evil one.  he got out of high school, went to Marine boot camp… then SOI…and now he is making such poor decisions and choices.  he is UA from base and has not checked in.  he doesn’t seem to realize that if he is dishonorably discharged this will totally screw up college if he wants to do it, jobs, his future.

what does one do with a Prodigal child?  we will not enable him.  we will love him with boundaries….ones that he sees only as us telling him how to live his life.  what ever.  so we pray and wonder when he will wake up to the love of God and us.  and wait.

  1. Hi hun was passing through and reading blogs. Hope you don’t mind me commenting on yours. I am a Military Wife and talked to my husband on what he would recommend you to do. He said the best thing is to turn him in because if he goes into deserter status and gets pulled over. He will be arrested and brought back into the marine corp then charged and put in jail. Then dishonorably discharge which will ruin the rest of his life. Hopefully he sees how badly this will turn out and return back to base.
You and your family are in my prayers. Goodluck.

    • Thank you so much….the rest of the week has been the same. We found out he is still in town, still UA, did not show up for his hearing in civil court for a DUI he got at Thanksgiving weekend…..did not pay his fine, lies to all of us. These are things he never did until he got out of high school. We are in close touch with his recruiter and a Staff Sgt. on base. His friends are looking for him and will turn him in if they find him. I just keep praying. He won’t listen to any of us ~ he actually told his dad that he will run and we will never see him again. I cannot believe this. Thank you thank you for your words… we are trying, but will not enable him to make more poor choices. He doesn’t seem to want to accept responsibility for his actions – like it is everyone else’s fault. But we all know better. So he keeps digging a deeper pit. I will keep you updated. blessings, melinda
